It has been shown to potentiate the activity of mTOR by increasing the rate at which ribosomes are assembled and translating a protein. The drug also activates the transcription factor STAT3, which leads to increased expression of genes that encode proteins involved in cell growth and proliferation. 1-(3-Chlorophenyl)-1,3-dihydro-5-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-Benzimidazol-2-one has been shown to inhibit chloride secretion and increase intestinal absorption in vitro assays.
