2-Chloro-5-fluoropyrimidine is a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis and has been shown to be effective against human liver cancer cells. It belongs to the class of amines and is synthesized from the reaction of fluorine with aniline. The major impurities are chloroacetaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and formaldehyde.
