N-Heptadecane

Heptadecane is a saturated hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C17H36. It is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an ethylene diamine stabilizer and to aid in chemical stability. Heptadecane has been shown to have a high affinity for cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are responsible for metabolizing drugs. Heptadecane also aids in the synthesis of fatty acids and is used as a model system to study the metabolism of fatty acids by cytochrome P450 enzymes. The chemical structures of heptadecane include one hydroxyl group, two methyl groups, and three methylene groups.
