3-Bromothiophenol is a chemical compound with the formula CHBrS. It is an oily liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. 3-Bromothiophenol has been shown to react with histone H3, forming covalent adducts. These adducts are formed through the reaction of the hydroxy group on 3-bromothiophenol and amino groups on histone H3. The x-ray crystal structures of these molecules have been determined, revealing that they adopt a bent conformation. 3-Bromothiophenol has been used as an activated diode in thermally sensitive diodes, such as those found in light emitting diodes (LEDs).
