4,5-Dibromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid
CAS:4,5-Dibromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid is a chiral compound that has been shown to be effective at inhibiting urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) with an IC50 of about 10 nM. This inhibition is due to the postulated ability of 4,5-dibromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid to bind to the active site of uPA. The binding of 4,5-dibromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid to uPA leads to a decrease in the catalytic activity of uPA and inhibits the formation of plasmin. This decreases the production of neurokinin, which is involved in pain sensation. 4,5-Dibromothiophene-2-carboxylic acid also has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those seen in other pyrazole derivatives.
