CAS:2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenyldihydrofuran-3(2H)-one is an antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of candida glabrata by binding to and inhibiting the enzyme mcf-7. 2,2-Dimethyl-5-phenyldihydrofuran-3(2H)-one has been shown to have a strong inhibitory effect on catheter biofilms in vitro. It also has a hydroxyl group which can be used for various reactions with other compounds. The potential use of this drug as an anticancer agent is currently being investigated.
