CAS:2,5-Dimethylthiophene is a metastable form of 2,5-dimethylthiophenesulfonic acid (DTPS) that can be prepared by hydrolysis or chlorination of 2,5-dimethylthiophene. DTPS is used as an analytical reagent in the detection of fatty acids and chloride ions with high sensitivity. The activation energies for the reaction between DTPS and chloride ions are 25-30 kcal/mol. The reaction mechanism for this process includes nucleophilic attack on the sulfur atom followed by a rearrangement to form a sulfonyl chloride. Reaction products include amines and thiosulfate.Formula:C6H8SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:112.19 g/molRef: 3D-FD35740
