Ethyl 3,3-dimethylacrylate is a carbonyl group with a polyene backbone and an amide group. This compound has synergistic effects when combined with fatty acids. The stereoselective nature of this compound allows for the synthesis of β-unsaturated ketones, which are found in blueberries. Ethyl 3,3-dimethylacrylate is able to be isolated from its reaction mixture in a yield that was greater than 90%.
