It binds to the acceptor site of covalent binding and can be used as an inhibitor of protein synthesis. 4-(1H-Imidazol-2-yl)Piperidine has been shown to inhibit ischaemic damage by preventing the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) during cerebral ischaemia.
