CAS:1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (EMIMCl) is a coordination complex that is acidic and soluble in water. It has transport properties and chemical stability, with a low redox potential of 0.161 V. EMIMCl can be used to produce ionic liquids that are stable and dissolve many organic molecules. EMIMCl has been shown to react with glycosidic bonds in cellulose to produce ionic cellulose, which can then be dissolved in the ionic liquid.
