CAS:7-Methoxy-3-phenylsulfonyl-1(3H)-isobenzofuranone is a hindered phenylsulfonyl isobenzofuranone that can be used as a reagent for the oxidation of naphthalenes. It has been shown to selectively oxidize the 7-methoxy group in the naphthalene ring without affecting other parts of the molecule. It is soluble in acetone and its preparation can be accomplished by reacting dibromide with sulfone.
