DL-alpha-Methyltyrosine has been shown to cause neuronal death in rats and inhibition of locomotor activity by decreasing dopamine levels in the brain. It also inhibits estradiol benzoate binding to estrogen receptors and blocks the receptors from activating gene transcription. Sublethal doses of DL-alpha-Methyltyrosine have been shown to inhibit dopamine receptor activity, leading to increased locomotor activity.
