1-Benzyl-5-ethoxy-2,4-imidazolinedione
CAS:1-Benzyl-5-ethoxy-2,4-imidazolinedione is an inhibitor of histone deacetylases (HDACs). This drug has shown promising results in treatment trials for neurologic disorders and infectious diseases. It may be used to treat patients with the loss of motor control, such as those with Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis. 1-Benzyl-5-ethoxy-2,4-imidazolinedione binds to the bromodomain of HDACs and inhibits their activity by preventing the removal of acetyl groups from lysine residues in DNA. This drug has also been shown to inhibit cancer growth by blocking cell division and inducing apoptosis. In addition, it inhibits the replication of recombinant viruses that are resistant to drugs such as HIV.
