3-Ethylbenzophenone
CAS:3-Ethylbenzophenone belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and is used as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to 3-benzoylphenol, its active form. NSAIDs are used in the treatment of pain, inflammation, and fever. The chemical structure of 3-Ethylbenzophenone is similar to that of indomethacin. The mechanism of action for 3-Ethylbenzophenone is similar to that of other NSAIDs: it inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. This inhibition prevents the production of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid, which are involved in inflammation, pain, and fever. The reaction mechanism for 3-Ethylbenzophenone has been determined through titration calorimetry andFormula:C15H14OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:210.27 g/mol(3-Ethylphenyl)(phenyl)methanone
