The tetra-acetyl-6-tosyl-b-D-glucopyranose is a modification of the natural 1,2,3,4-tetra-O-acetyl-6-O-tosyl--D glucopyranose. It is synthesized by reacting the 1,2,3,4 tetra acetyl b glucopyranose with tosyl chloride and anhydrous pyridine in dry dichloromethane. The product is purified by column chromatography on silica gel using a solvent system consisting of ethyl acetate and methanol. The yield of this reaction is about 60%.
