1-Aza-15-crown-5-ether

1-Aza-15-crown 5-Ether is a crown ether that binds to a range of organic molecules with high affinity. It has been used in the detection of small molecules, such as styryl dyes, and has been shown to have good transport properties. The binding constants of 1-Aza-15-crown 5-Ether can be altered by changing the carbon disulphide or pyridoxine hydrochloride concentration. This drug has also been found to be useful for modelling systems that mimic biological processes, such as protein synthesis in liver cells. 1-Aza-15-crown 5-Ether is able to bind with nitrogen atoms on a molecule to form an amide bond. Structural analysis of this drug has found that it forms hydrogen bonds with other compounds when it binds to them.
