Cyclo(Pro-Pro) is a synthetic analog of the natural product cyclopropane-carboxylic acid. Cyclo(Pro-Pro) has been shown to inhibit the enzymatic conversion of proline to p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is a critical step in the synthesis of proline dipeptides. The anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic properties of Cyclo(Pro-Pro) are thought to be due to inhibition of this enzyme and its downstream products, including cell apoptosis.
