Fuegin is a natural product that is extracted from the leaves of Echinochloa crus-galli. It has been shown to have anti-tumor activity and inhibitory effect on chronic infections. Fuegin also has anticomplement activity, which prevents or reduces the complement system activation in the human body. The antiviral effects of Fuegin are due to its ability to inhibit erythrocyte invasion by herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2. In vitro studies have shown that Fuegin causes phytotoxic effects on leukemia cells, cancer cells, and lymphoblastic cells.

Fuegin is a sesquiterpene compound isolated from the Polygonaceae plant Polygonum hydropiper.
