CAS:4-Fluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile is a metabolite of 4-fluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenol, which is a metabolite of the sulfoxide drug pentoxyverine. It has shown to inhibit the growth of the nematode Ascaris suum in animals. This metabolic pathway has been studied using profiles from rat, mouse and human liver homogenates. The biotransformations that have been observed include sulfoxidation, hydroxylation, deacetylation and glucuronidation. The metabolic pathways for 4-fluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzonitrile are similar to those of anthelmintic drugs such as levamisole and pyrantel.
