4-Methyl-5-oxohexanoic acid
CAS:4-Methyl-5-oxohexanoic acid is a pheromone that has been isolated from the hindgut of Formicidae. It is a component of the volatile blend emitted by Florida anoles, which are used in mating and territorial disputes. The pheromone was found to cause electrophysiological recordings in the sacral glands of male formicidae, as well as chromatographic changes in their gas gland. 4-Methyl-5-oxohexanoic acid also has been shown to be a major component of the female sex pheromones of Hymenoptera. This compound has been identified as a structural analogue for several other insect pheromones.Formula:C7H12O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:144.17 g/mol4-Methyl-5-oxohexanoic Acid
