This compound binds to response elements on DNA, inhibiting transcription of pro-inflammatory genes. Isorhynchophylline can be created as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) product by adding anhydrous sodium hydroxide to rhizoma gastrodiae, a Chinese herb.
