IWP-3 is a new molecule that has been shown to have biological properties. It dissociates the association between β-catenin and cadherins, which are proteins that are involved in the maintenance of cellular adhesion. This has implications for cancer treatment, bone tumor treatment, and regenerative medicine. IWP-3 has also been shown to stimulate the proliferation of pluripotent stem cells and to increase their ability to differentiate into tissues, such as cardiac muscle.

IWP-3 is a potent inhibitor of Wnt production with an IC50 of 40 nM. It inhibits Porcupine (Porcn), blocking the palmitoylation of Wnt proteins, and moderately inhibits CK1γ3 and CK1ε, but does not inhibit CK1α [1] [2].
