It is a phosphoramidite or monophosphate, which can be synthesized from 2'-deoxycytidine and N,N-bis(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)acetamide. 3',5'-Bis-O-tert-butyldimethylsilyl-2'-deoxy-2',2'-difluorocytidine inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA by inhibiting the enzymes DNA gyrase and RNA polymerase II. This drug has been shown to have anticancer effects in vitro and in vivo.
