CAS:3-Methyl-4-nitrobiphenyl is an aromatic amine that is a metabolite of the pesticide nitrobenzene. 3-Methyl-4-nitrobiphenyl binds to DNA and RNA, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. It also inhibits a number of enzymes, including those involved in the metabolism of aromatic amines. 3-Methyl-4-nitrobiphenyl has been found to be mutagenic in a number of assays, such as TA100, with an inhibitory effect on bacterial growth.
