It has shown to interact with both solid phase and gas phase analytes. 4-Iodo-N,N-dimethylaniline has been used as a calibration standard for the detection of other molecules and can also be used for the detection of gaseous analytes. 4-Iodo-N,N-dimethylaniline fluoresces at a wavelength of 515 nm under UV light and has optical properties that are different from those of other molecules. The low detection limit of this molecule makes it useful in flow rate measurements.
