Dec-3-enal is an insect pheromone that has been found in the extracts of lepidoptera from the Geometridae family. It has been synthesized by Wittig reaction, and its structure was analyzed by GC-MS. Dec-3-enal is a potent attractant for geometridae and other Lepidoptera species. The chemical structures may be diagnostic for certain species of geometridae, as well as other Lepidoptera.
