3-Fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride is an isomeric arylsulfonyl chloride that has been shown to cause dose-dependent amnesia in rats. 3-Fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride is a synthetic compound that reacts with the active site of acetylcholinesterase and prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine, which leads to an increase in the amount of this neurotransmitter at the synapse. 3-Fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride also inhibits the oxidation of chlorides, which may be responsible for its amnesiac effects.
