This compound also binds to the benzene ring, which may be due to its acidic nature. 3-Acetylindole has been shown to inhibit T-cell leukemia and other cancers in animal models. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in culture by blocking DNA synthesis and inhibiting proliferation.
