    CAS:
    5-Methoxytryptophol is a metabolite of melatonin that has immunomodulatory effects. It is produced by the pineal gland, retina, and ovarian follicles. 5-Methoxytryptophol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in human serum and to inhibit cyclase activity. It also has oxidative stress-reducing properties which may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals. The high values of 5-methoxytryptophol in metabolic disorders such as fatty acidosis have been attributed to the presence of this metabolite in the liver and kidney.
