It has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1β, which are involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. 11-Dehydrocorticosterone-13C3 binds to the glucocorticoid receptor with high affinity and specificity and possesses a hydroxyl group at C3 position. It is effective in inhibiting the production of proinflammatory cytokines in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes by blocking the function of nuclear factor kappa B (NFκB).
