Methyl 2-amino-4-(methoxymethyl)-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxylate is a colorless liquid with a strong odor. It is used as an intermediate for the production of pharmaceuticals such as carbamazepine and chloroquine. The conformations and bonding of this compound are similar to those of other methoxymethyl compounds. The rotational freedom is limited by the substituents, which can be either axial or equatorial.
