CAS:4-Chloro-DL-phenylalanine (4CPA) is an inhibitor of the protein kinase C (PKC) and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. 4CPA suppresses the immune system by inhibiting PKC, which is involved in signal pathways that regulate inflammation. This drug has also been shown to inhibit pentobarbital sodium-induced locomotor activity, carcinoid syndrome, and MMP-9 activity. It may have a pathogenic mechanism through transcriptional regulation.
