Tellurium(IV) Oxide
CAS:Tellurium is a chemical element that has the symbol Te and atomic number 52. It is a brittle, mildly toxic, rare, silver-white metalloid. Tellurium is found in the Earth's crust only in minute amounts. The most common tellurides are calaverite (AgTe), sylvanite (AuTe 2 ), and petzite (AgAuTe 2 ). These minerals were originally discovered during the California Gold Rush and named after the Latin word for tellus, meaning earth. Tellurium is also found as a trace mineral in ores of gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, cadmium and mercury. Tellurium was discovered by Franz Joseph Muller von Reichenstein in 1783 when he found it as an impurity in samples of what was then believed to be gold. Tellurium is one of the few elements that can form stable metal oxides with high resistance at room temperature. br>brFormula:TeO2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:159.6 g/molTellurium oxide, 99.999%

CAS:Tellurium(IV) oxide is also used in devices which can convert light into sound (acousto-optic material). Glasses made of tellurium oxide have high refractive indices and transmit into mid-IR region. It is used to make glasses with special properties. It is useful in optical waveguides and optical fiber amplification. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. CAS:It is used as an acousto-optic material and a conditional glass former. The glasses of tellurium oxide have high refractive indices. Owing to the transmission into mid-infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum, tellurium oxide is of technological interest for optical waveguides. It is also employed in optical fibre amplification. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
