CAS:Lithium chloride is a fine chemical that is used as a versatile building block in the preparation of research chemicals. Lithium chloride is also a reaction component in the synthesis of complex compounds and has been shown to be useful as a reagent. This compound has many applications, including use as an intermediate in the production of lithium metal and lithium salts, and as a building block for organolithium compounds. Lithium chloride is soluble in water. The CAS number for this compound is 7447-41-8.Formula:LiClMolecular weight:42.39 g/molLithium chloride, anhydrous, 98+%
CAS:Lithium chloride is useful for the production of lithium metal and for the generation of Mn(0) species which can be used in free radical cyclizations. It can serve as a flame colorant to generate dark red flames, a brazing flux for aluminum in automobiles, a hygrometer and a desiccant for drying air streams. On exposure to air, it becomes a solution with the concentration directly related to relative humidity of the atmosphere and hence serves as a relative humidity standard in calibrating hygrometers. Apart from being a source of chloride, it serves as an additive in the Stille reaction in organic synthesis and to precipitate RNA from cellular extracts. Being biologically significant, it finds applications in a wide variety of assays to study cell-fate and neurobiology. Lithium chloride has been found to inhibit virus infection. CAS:Lithium chloride is a cyclic peptide drug that has anthelmintic properties. It is active against various nematodes and cestodes, such as Ascaris lumbricoides, Toxocara canis, and Taenia pisiformis. Lithium chloride induces autophagy in cultured cells by increasing the permeability of the cell membrane to water vapor. This leads to the release of intracellular contents into the extracellular space and subsequent cell death. In vivo studies using a rat model have shown that lithium chloride is also capable of inducing autophagy in the gastrointestinal tract and inhibiting food intake. Lithium chloride has been shown to be effective in treating metabolic disorders, such as obesity and diabetes mellitus type II, due to its ability to increase GLP-1 production.Formula:LiClColor and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:42.39 g/mol
