  • 2-([1,1'-Biphenyl]-2-yloxy)ethanol

    2-([1,1'-Biphenyl]-2-yloxy)ethanol is a useful polymerization inhibitor for acrylate monomers. It is used in the synthesis of polymers such as poly(vinyl acetate), poly(acrylic acid), and poly(methacrylic acid). 2-([1,1'-Biphenyl]-2-yloxy)ethanol is also used as an esterification inhibitor. It will not react with acrylic and acrylic acid, which are polymerization catalysts that can be used to produce polymers. The use of 2-([1,1'-biphenyl]-2-yloxy)ethanol in the production of organic acids has been found to be an effective method for removing these substances from wastewater streams.
