CAS:5-(4-Chlorophenyl)isoxazole-3-carboxaldehyde (5CICA) is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that has been shown to be effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and candida. 5CICA has been shown to have broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity with a mechanism of action that includes inhibition of cell wall synthesis and membrane disruption. In the presence of ethanol, 5CICA was found to inhibit the growth of gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes but not Candida albicans. In the presence of water, 5CICA was found to inhibit the growth of gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa but not Candida albicans.Formula:C10H6ClNO2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:207.61 g/molRef: 3D-FC54071
