4-Fluoro-2-methylpyridine

4-fluoro-2-methylpyridine (4FMP) is a metric that can be used to describe the reactivity of an electrophile. It has been shown to have high catalytic activity in the transfer of methyl groups, and therefore is often used as a substrate for reactions involving electrophilic substitution. 4FMP has been correlated with solvents, such as sulfide, by comparing its data base with other solvents' data bases. The rate at which 4FMP reacts depends on parameters such as reaction temperature and hydrogen bond formation. 4FMP is also regioselective, meaning that it will only react at one position on a molecule.

It is used in the correlations with and limitations of the α scale of solvent hydrogen bond donor acidities.
