    (+/-)-trans-1,2-Dihydroxy-1,2-dihydronaphthalene is a natural compound that has been shown to be an effective transfection agent. It is an inhibitor of the dehydrogenase enzyme and can block the synthesis of picolinic acid and other polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. (+/-)-trans-1,2-Dihydroxy-1,2-dihydronaphthalene has also been shown to inhibit cancer cells and may be used as a biomarker for early detection of prostate cancer.
