CAS:N-Methylbutan-2-amine hydrochloride is a chiral, synthesized benzodiazepine receptor ligand. It is also used as a reagent in analytical chemistry to detect primary amines, including compounds that are difficult to analyze. N-Methylbutan-2-amine hydrochloride can be used in the analysis of reaction products such as those formed by the chloroformate and dimethylamine. This compound has been shown to bind with high affinity to benzodiazepine receptors, which are located on the surface of neurons. Analysis of this compound has revealed an ionization potential for the molecule at 8.4 volts, with a molecular weight of 150 Daltons and a melting point at -121 degrees Celsius.
