CAS:D,L-m-Tyrosine is an amino acid that can be synthesized from L-tyrosine and pyridoxal phosphate. It is a precursor of the neurotransmitter dopamine and thus has a role in the synthesis of catecholamines. Tyrosine is produced by hydroxylation of phenylalanine by phenolase. The enzyme dopamine β-hydroxylase converts tyrosine to dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) which then undergoes decarboxylation to form dopamine.
