CAS:Potassium bromate is a titrant that can be used to determine the concentration of potassium in solutions. Potassium bromate is toxic, and long-term exposure to high concentrations of this chemical can lead to kidney damage and cancer. Studies have shown that low doses of potassium bromate can cause an increase in the frequency of resistant mutants in bacteria (e.g., E. coli) due to its effects on mitochondrial membrane potential and disulfide bond formation. The toxicity of potassium bromate has been studied as a model system for complex enzymes such as DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase. Potassium bromate was found to inhibit the activity of these enzymes by binding to sulfur atoms in the enzyme active site, which prevents the formation of disulfide bonds during oxidative phosphorylation, leading to decreased energy metabolism.Formula:KBrO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:167 g/molPotassium Bromate
CAS:Applications Potassium Bromate is used in the catalytic and non-catalytic roles of DNA polymerase K in protection of human precursor leukemia cells against genotoxic stresses. Also used in the study of related molecular mechanism of carcinogen participating in tumor metastasis. Not a dangerous good if item is equal to or less than 1g/ml and there is less than 100g/ml in the package References Kanemaru, Y., et al.: Environ. Mol.
