CAS 78-07-9: Ethyltriethoxysilane

Triethoxyethylsilane is a diphenyl ether with the formula (CH3)2SiO. It is a colorless liquid that has an odor similar to ether and is soluble in most organic solvents. Triethoxyethylsilane is used as an analytical chemistry solvent, as a raw material for the synthesis of other compounds, and as a catalyst. Triethoxyethylsilane has been shown to be chemically stable and has no significant effect on chemical analysis methods such as gravimetric analysis or chromatographic methods. The physical properties of triethoxyethylsilane are dependent on its purity. Triethoxyethylsilane can be used as a solid catalyst for the polymerization of ethylene oxide to form polyethersulfone. Triethoxyethylsilane also exhibits optical sensor properties, which make it useful in detecting various types of contaminants in water and air samples.
