CAS:3,6-Dimethyl-4-octyn-3,6-diol is a hydroxy ester that is used as an inhibitor of ATP binding cassette transporters. It has been shown to be reactive with metal ions and inorganic compounds. The reaction solution with calcium carbonate and 3,6-dimethyl-4-octyn-3,6-diol showed a high corrosion inhibition effect on steel plates. 3,6-Dimethyl-4-octyn-3,6-diol can also be used as a patterning agent for polymers. When it reacts with zinc chloride or copper(II) chloride in the presence of phenol or benzoic acid, it forms a polymerized product at the interface of the two liquids.
