CAS:4,4'-Dichloro-±-methylbenzhydrol is a diphenyl ether analog of the antibiotic erythromycin. The compound binds to mammalian tissue, including maternal blood, and has been shown to have high levels of resistance against antibiotic-resistant strains. This chemical is structurally similar to erythromycin, with the exception that it contains a chlorine atom in place of an oxygen atom on the aromatic ring. It was found that 4,4'-dichloro-±-methylbenzhydrol inhibits fatty acid synthesis at physiological levels. This inhibition may be due to its ability to bind to acyl chains and thereby inhibit transport properties. 4,4'-Dichloro-±-methylbenzhydrol also inhibits microbial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis at physiological levels, which may be due to its interactions with hydrogen bonds in the ribosome membrane.Formula:C14H12Cl2OPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:267.15 g/mol
