4,4'-Diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid
CAS:4,4'-Diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid (DAIDS) is a fluorescent dye that can be used to measure the activity of mitochondrial enzymes. It is a substrate for polymerase chain reaction and can be used as a cell viability assay. DAIDS has been shown to cause mitochondrial membrane depolarization and cytosolic calcium release in prostate cancer cells. This compound also inhibits the proliferation of human liver cells and has been proposed as a potential analytical method for wastewater samples.
