It reacts with methyl ketones and forms diazonium salts, which are then converted to chromatographic products. 2-Aminonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid can be prepared by reacting sodium carbonate with a diazonium salt, hydrochloric acid, or an ammonium salt.
