Oleic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide is a fatty acid that is used as a modulator of cellular uptake, which can be used to treat metabolic disorders and cancer. This compound inhibits carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT), which prevents the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. It has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial membrane potential in cells and to cause apoptosis. Oleic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide may also be used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and HIV infection.
