2-Hydroxy-3-methylbenzaldehyde is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of phenols. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of locomotor activity in rats, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of dopamine by blocking the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase. 2-Hydroxy-3-methylbenzaldehyde also has high solubility, as well as fluorescence properties.
