CAS:2-tert-Butyl-4,6-dinitro-5-methylanisole is a sesquiterpene lactone that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their DNA. It is used in wastewater treatment to inhibit bacterial growth and can be used as an alternative to potassium dichromate, which has been shown to exhibit some carcinogenic properties. 2-tert-Butyl-4,6-dinitro-5-methylanisole binds with the hydroxyl group on the nucleic acid molecule and prevents it from pairing with its complementary strand during DNA replication. This leads to inhibition of bacterial DNA synthesis and cell division. 2DMTM has been shown to have no effect on human serum or test samples when exposed to light at room temperature for a short period of time, but exposure for longer periods or at higher temperatures increases the toxicity of this compound. The matrix effect has been shown to affect the degradation rate ofFormula:C12H16N2O5Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:268.27 g/mol
