inhibitor of the reverse mode of Na+/Ca2+ exchange (NCX)

YM 244769 is a novel compound that is a selective inhibitor of the cytosolic calcium-ATPase (SERCA) pump. The SERCA pump plays an important role in maintaining the intracellular calcium concentration and removing Ca2+ from the cytosol to the extracellular space, which is required for nerve transmission. YM 244769 blocks this pump and inhibits Ca2+ reuptake by the endoplasmic reticulum, which leads to increased levels of cytosolic Ca2+. This compound has been shown to reduce chronic pain in animal models induced by nerve injury.
